
BIO
Actress, director and playwright, Sara Carinhas was born in Lisbon in 1987 and has built a career spanning cinema, television, theatre, music and writing. She studied Music and Singing at Juventude Musical Portuguesa, Ballet with Margarida de Abreu, and since 2009 has trained with Polina Klimovitskaya between Lisbon, New York and Paris. She is completing a Master’s in Theatre Studies at the University of Lisbon. She has curated several staged reading cycles at São Luiz Teatro Municipal and in 2023 wrote, directed and performs Última Memória, currently on tour. That same year she published her first book, Imprudente Luto. In film, she appeared in Banzo, Amadeo, Campo de Sangue, Bem Bom, Snu, Ramiro, As Linhas de Torres and The Strange Case of Angelica. On television, her credits include NR2513 (TVI), Mulheres às Armas (TVI), Erro 404 (RTP), Matilha (RTP), Três Mulheres (RTP), Sara (RTP) and Madre Paula (RTP). On stage, she performed works by Shakespeare, Genet, Brecht and Racine, and created projects such as Baile, Orlando and As Ondas. She received the Golden Globe for Best Theatre Actress and the SPA Award for A Farsa, as well as Sophia Award nominations.
