Sofia Marques

Biography

She was born in 1976 and completed the Actor Training Course at the Professional School of Theater in Cascais.

From a very young age she started her regular work with the Cornucopia Theater, more precisely from 1996 until its closure. Integrated dozens and dozens of casts, mostly staged by Luís Miguel Cintra.

Still at the Cornucopia Teatro she worked several times with the French director Christine Laurent.

She worked with Spanish directors such as Ana Zamora and Carlos Aladro and many other..

Has collaborated with other specific projects with directors such as Ricardo Aibéo, Tónan Quito, Rita Loureiro, Carlos Pimenta and throughout her acting career she has played authors such as Heiner Muller, August Strindberg, Frederico Garcia Lorca, William Shakespeare, Friederich, Holderlin, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Arthur Schnitzler, Jean Genet, among many others.

On television he joined the cast of the Super Pai series, participated in the TV Series Liberdade21 and Mysteries of Sintra Road.

In the cinema, she was a performer in several feature films and short films, with emphasis on work in the films of Raquel Freire, Inês Oliveira, Manuel Mozos, Lorenzo Bianchini, Ivo Ferreira, Victor Alves and José Maria Vaz da Silva.

Still in cinema, she made and co-produced 3 documentaries, “Seeing them so
near ”50’ (2010), “8816 verses” 78 ’(2013),“ Illusion”115’ (2014) which ended up winning the Audience Award – Best Portuguese Feature Film at the International Film Festival – Doclisboa’14.
