Actor, filmmaker and writer, Welket Bungué was born in Guinea-Bissau and trained in Theatre at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School. His film credits include Brutus by Marcelo Toledo, Aller Retour by Dorothée Van den Berghe, Crimes of the Future by David Cronenberg, Matéria Noturna by Bernard Lessa, Berlin Alexanderplatz by Burhan Qurbani, The Journey of Pedro by Laís Bodansky, Corpo Eléctrico by Marcelo Caetano and Letters from War by Ivo Ferreira, alongside several shorts he also directed. On television and streaming, he has appeared in Pssica (Netflix), Reencarne (Globoplay), Then You Run! (Sky), Davos 1917 (SRF/ARD), Novo Mundo (TV Globo), País Irmão (RTP) and Morangos com Açúcar (TVI). On stage, he has collaborated with Jorge Andrade, Rogério de Carvalho and Miguel Pinheiro, and directed works such as Tchon di Balanta. He received the CinEuphoria Award for Best Actor for Berlin Alexanderplatz, the SPA Jury Award for Memória, and the Prestige Cinema Award from RDP África, among other distinctions.
