Graduated in Theatre – Actor Training from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, Duarte Guimarães made his professional debut in 1997 at Teatro da Cornucópia in Os Sete Infantes, directed by Luís Miguel Cintra, with whom he developed a long-standing collaboration. He has also worked with directors such as Ricardo Aibéo, António Pires, Rodrigo Francisco, and Catarina Requeijo. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with Pastéis de Nata para Bach.
In film, he has appeared in productions including Technoboss by João Nicolau, Ramiro by Manuel Mozos, Demain? by Christine Laurent, Gigola by Laure Charpentier, Mysteries of Lisbon by Raoul Ruiz, Julgamento by Leonel Vieira, and Capitães de Abril by Maria de Medeiros.
On television, he has been involved in numerous national and international productions, including Portuguese soap operas and the Brazilian series Sabor da Paixão, produced by Globo. He has also appeared in series such as Teorias da Conspiração, directed by Manuel Pureza for RTP, and Uma Família Açoriana, directed by João Cayatte for RTP, among others.
